BarEnder Stainless Steel Locking Barends
|
 |
 |
| |
| The BarEnder can be used on all types
of vehicles with hollow handlebars - ATVs, personal watercraft,
bicycles, and of course motorcycles. While no device is perfect for theft on
these vehicles, we believe you will find the BarEnder to be a better way to
store your helmet, jacket, and accessories while you go into the store
or your favorite eating-place. Let BarEnder be your "ultimate
way to hang your hat". |

BarEnder
- General Product Information |
|
The BarEnder lock is designed to give years of use. Made in the USA out of
stainless steel to last and stay looking good. The BarEnder™ can be
used on all hollow type handlebars. The BarEnder is made to fit 7/8 in., 1
in., 6mm, and 8mm handlebars. The BarEnder has a security key mechanism
and the product has a clean appearance. Hanging your helmet at the end of
the handlebar keeps it away from exhaust pipes and saddlebags. It also keeps
it off of the seat or mirror, where it has a chance to fall off or be taken.
With some jackets, the sleeve can be pushed onto the handlebar, and the
helmet locked at the end of the handlebar. This way the jacket can not be
removed over the locked helmet at the end of the handlebar.
At present, BarEnder locks will fit "hollow" motorcycle handlebars that
have a diameter of either 1 inch or 7/8 inch, and "solid" or blocked
handlebars having a permanent end fastening nut of 6 or 8 mm. We have found
that some models and modifications may not be compatible with BarEnder
locks, especially when it comes to the 1" and 7/8" models. For example,
existing handlebars with chrome end caps aren't compatible, unless the owner
wants to remove, or modify the end caps, because that's precisely where the BarEnder locks will be installed. Motorcycles with heated handlebars using
an internal routing of the wires inside the handlebar tube may not be
suitable, because the expanding pressure seal of the BarEnder lock inside
of the handlebars may damage the wires, if they are in the way of the lock
bar. Your helmet will fit if it has "D" rings on the chin strap, or some
other small, preferably metal fastener with an internal diameter of 1/2
inch. Please see the attached copies of the installation instructions and
the pictures of a helmet fastened to a BarEnder lock. |
|
Installation instructions: 7/8 and 1 inch shafts |
| Special Note: On vehicles without
existing barend weights, the grip may have to be cut out at the end to allow
the BarEnder to be installed. The hardest part is removing the old barend
weights that come equipped from the factory. Once this is done you are ready
for the BarEnder helmet/accessory lock.
First, make sure the inside of the handlebar is free of any obstructions,
and clean in the inside. Then tighten the nut on the BarEnder and compress
the orange silicone bushing enough to cause a snug fit when installing into
the handlebar. Push the BarEnder shaft into the handlebar with the locking
head still on it. Once you have determined the proper gap between the
locking head and the end of the handlebar/grip, take the locking head off
and tighten the shaft with a large screwdriver, being careful not to move
the shaft in or out, or over tighten it. Place the locking head back on the
shaft and you're ready to go. |

Installation instructions: 6 and 8 mm shafts |
| Special Note: On vehicles without
existing barend weights, the grip may have to be cut out at the end to allow
the BarEnder to be installed. The hardest part is removing the old barend
weights that come equipped from the factory. Once this is done you are ready
for the BarEnder helmet/accessory lock. The 6 and 8mm version of
BarEnder locks just replaces the existing 6 or 8mm bolt used to hold the
current barend weights on. Remove your old barend weights, and replace the 6
or 8mm bolt with the 6 or 8mm stud and lock receiver unit. Measure the
distance between the locking head and the end of the grip. Approximately
3/16 is needed for the "D" ring to fit between the lock head and the end of
the grip. If more of a gap is needed between the locking head and the end of
the grip, use flat washers to move the lock receiver unit away from the
handlebar, thereby increasing the gap. Insert a large flat bladed
screwdriver into the slotted end of the lock receiver unit, and tighten,
being careful not to over tighten it. Place the lock head on, and you are
ready to use your new BarEnder lock.
